Vertical ribs concealed in the upper part of the backrest offer flexibility and considerable freedom of movement. A curved back envelopes the padded seat and ensures maximum comfort, even over prolonged periods of sitting. Constructed from a fibreglass polyamide seat and backrest with a polyamide base, the Softshell Side Chair is a robust and aesthetically timeless furniture piece. Thanks to its understated character, the Softshell Side Chair is extremely versatile and suited for many spaces.

Materials/Construction

Backrest and seat: Shell in fibreglass-reinforced polyamide, flexible upper backrest shell. Seat and backrest upholstery in polyurethane foam.

Four-legged base: Polyamide in basic dark with glides.

The Softshell Side Chair is available in a wide range of fabrics and leathers - a small selection of which are shown on this website page. Upholstery is grouped by numbers; the higher the numeric value the greater the cost. 'F' is for woven fabrics, 'L' is for leather upholstery. F60 - Twill (30% polyamide, 70% new wool), Volo (15% polyamide, 85% new wool)

F80 - Dumet (9% polyamide, 46% cotton, 8% linen, 22% wool, 15% rayon), Linho (9% polyamide, 91% linen), Tress (8% polyamide, 73% new wool, 19% polyester)

F100 - 
Aura (3% polyamide, 97% new wool), Reed (7% polyamide, 48% cotton, 25% new wool, 20% linen)

F120 - Credo (5% polyamide, 95% new wool)

L20 - Robust cowhide with a distinctive even grain

L50 - Semi-aniline nappa leather with a very soft and supple feel, vegetable tanned

    There are few, if any, designers as well renowned and respected as Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec - often known simply as the Bouroullec Brothers. Ronan is a graduate of the École supérieure des Arts décoratifs in Paris and Erwan attended the École nationale supérieure des Arts in Cergy before starting their own studio together in Paris.

    The design duo started their practice as joint partners in 1999 and quickly established a reputation for offering a new perspective on materiality and purpose. Since then they have worked with some of the world’s most illustrious design brands, creating products which are already considered to be future classics.
