This Sarpaneva Cast Iron Pot is brand new, however it has a very small imperfection. There is a small chip to the enamel surface on the cast iron handle edge. The iittala branded box packaging is also slightly worn, due to the damage caused during transit to us from Iittala. We will ensure this item will be sent onto you with sufficient protective packaging to prevent any further damage and wear to the packaging.

'Factory 2nd' items are not eligible for returns or refunds. Please carefully review photos of the item's condition before purchasing - The first photo shown in our warehouse is of the actual item you will receive, please ask if you are not sure which image this is. An additional cast iron lid and wooden handle will be included with this item.

With a wooden handle and a cast iron body, this ultimate design classic is as functional in the kitchen as it is appealing on the dining table. Combining design usability with a traditional cast iron pot, Sarpaneva’s inspiration came from his blacksmith grandfather.

He tasked Timo with creating a modern rendition of the ancient cast iron pot. It won the silver medal at the 1960 Milan Triennale as well as the International Design Award in the United States and features in the V&A's collections. The wooden handle can be used to lift the lid in several ways - as illustrated in our pictures.

This cast iron cookware is coated with enamel. Enamel protects the surface against rust and strengthens it. In enamelled products food can be prepared in the oven or on the stove with good results every time. Food cooks evenly and browns well. The enamelled surface prevents food flavours from sticking to the pot, so use can use the same pot for cooking fish as well as meat. Use wooden or plastic kitchen utensils. Sharp objects and scouring agents and sponges can damage the enamel. Always wash enamelled cast iron products by hand, with or without washing liquid. Occasionally, it is recommended to treat the enamelled surface with cooking oil.
