Marimekko

Founded in 1951, Marimekko is a Finnish design company renowned for its original prints and colours. It is recognised for its important contributions to fashion during the 1960's, the Unikko (Poppy) prints by Maija Isola became internationally popular and are still used today for an extensive range of home decor objects in addition to the fashion pieces.

Today the company designs and manufactures high-quality interior products ranging from furnishing fabrics to tableware as well as clothing, bags and other accessories. Patterns are often susceptible to dating and falling out of favour with the public - Marimekko is the notable exception that proves that contemporary design can include complex patterns and endure in fashion through time.
